Most years I usually take a wander around Ashby Show held at Cattows Farm in Heather, Leicestershire. I have on occasion competed in a few classes, the first one was with my daughter and her Welsh Section A pony Frankie, in the Lead Rein class. The next was with my horse Ollie in the Youngster Irish Draught and Sport Horse class where we came fourth. More recently, I generally just like to watch and take the odd or picture or two :). Last year, I finally managed to watch the Shetland Grand National race in the Main arena. Apart from watching it on tv during HOYS, I’ve never seen it live. It was fun! There are plenty of attractions at Ashby Show besides the horse and pony shows, such as, agricultural showing, tractors, British Showjumping, craft tents, Women’s Institute, Stunt master, small animals and a fun fair to keep the children amused. It is definitely worth a visit. I didn’t take as many photos this time around as I was a little short on time but you can clearly see it gets many visitors.
