Beginning of 2017 (yay I’ve finally reached 2017), I assisted as a second shooter for Sarah Bruce Photography for a wedding she was photographing at Peckforton Castle in Cheshire, which is a gorgeous and prestigious wedding venue in the quaint village of Tarporley. Peckforton Castle nestles right up on a hill and is licensed for civil ceremonies, it also hold Land Rover Experience days (one thing I’d love to do). It’s Great Hall is just beautiful. It was my second visit to Peckforton Castle again assisting with photographing a wedding. I am very lucky to be able to share these images on my blog.
My day began with the groom preparations down at one of the Castle Lodges before heading up to the Castle itself for all the celebrations. We had a little fun on the way up to the castle with some group groomsmen shots. The Great Hall was beautifully lit with purple soft lighting adding warmth to the stone walls for the ceremony. As the groom and his groomsmen greeted guests, I took the opportunity to capture some candid moments using my trusty 85mm which is perfect for low light situations when flash isn’t being used. The ceremony itself was lovely – so much love and emotion with these two and it was great to be at the top end capturing the emotions of the bride. The bride’s dress was beautiful and she looked amazing wearing it. She even braved the cold January air for photos outside. Who wouldn’t when getting married at Peckforton Castle? The groom very dapper in traditional top and tails. One thing aside from the day’s frivolities was the cutting of the cake with the sword, wow…
The wedding was lovely and I had a great time working with Sarah. Here is just a selection of my images taken that day to reflect the wedding from my observations as a documentary wedding photographer, second shooting. I love doing the more documentary side of things as I enjoy keeping things as natural as possible. I do love details though.. So I will always do lots of detail shots!
