Back in November/December 2016, I managed to take some time out and go travelling with my daughter, Samantha. We wanted to explore Brussels and visit the Christmas market. Neither of us had ever been to Belgium so it was the perfect opportunity really.
We travelled by coach which left from Victoria Station, London. We came down to London the day before also by coach and stayed with my daughter’s friend. I even got to Buckingham Palace something I’ve never done whenever I’ve been to London. It took around 8/9 hours by coach to reach the city of Brussels. When we first arrived, fresh off the coach and walking, we did get a little lost but thanks to google maps, we did find our accommodation. We chose to stay just 10 minutes walk away from the main city centre and found our bedsit via ‘Air BnB‘.
We enjoyed wandering around the Christmas market, seeing the Light Show in the Grand Place and just generally enjoying the Christmas atmosphere. Even got to have a go on the Ferris Wheel! I love them plus we got a great view of the city. During the day we just wandered around, no map, just sightseeing and I always enjoy getting lost around a city as you get to see so much more (in the day), looking at various shops particularly having a wander around Les Galeries Royales Saint-Hubert, and they have their own Christian Louboutin boutique showcasing lots of beautiful shoes. It wouldn’t be Belgium without seeing lots of gorgeous chocolate. We also got to see the Royal Palace as well as visiting a couple of museums, Notre Dame du Sablon and the Cathedrale St-Michel et Ste-Gudule. If you want a giggle, then the Manneken Pis is a must visit as well as taking the obligatory photo!
All in all it was a lovely sightseeing trip and another city to cross off the list.
